Q: How will nanoelectronics make the world a better place?
A: Coming up with devices and switches that are only a few nanometers or even molecules in size – thus shrinking memory and processor chips – will mean more than just smaller, faster and cheaper computers, though that is certainly important.
Breakthroughs in nanoelectronics will permit more speed and functionality in microscopic packages. It will result in the creation of new devices - everything from smaller and better implantable heart pacemakers to tiny hearing aids and other less-obtrusive electronics. More efficient solar panels and sensors will lead to the development of new green technologies. |
